The CBS slogan "Welcome Home" has special meaning for sportscaster Greg Gumbel. A veteran of sports broadcasting for more than 25 years, Greg has returned to CBS as host and play-by-play announcer. In January at Super Bowl XXXV, Greg Gumbel became the first African-American play-by-play announcer to work a Super Bowl.

Having worked with some of the greatest names in sports television - Terry Bradshaw, John Madden, Joe Morgan, Bill Walton, Mike Ditka, Cris Collingsworth and Joe Gibbs - Greg adds former NY Giants quarterback, Phil Simms, as they team as CBS' lead NFL announce team. Additionally, Gumbel serves as CBS' host for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, the Final Four, and the Daytona 500.

It marks his second tour of duty at CBS. Greg Gumbel was there from October 1989 through May 1994. He hosted the Emmy Award-winning The NFL Today, the network's pre-game, halftime and post-game studio show from 1990 to 1993. In addition, he served as primetime anchor of CBS Sports' coverage of the record-setting 1994 Olympic Winter Games from Lillehammer, Norway, and as co-anchor for the weekday morning broadcasts of the 1992 Olympic Winter Games from Albertville, France.

It is upon more than 25 years of broadcast experience which Greg draws to both entertain and motivate audiences of all ages and types, supporting his comments with videotaped sports highlights that are educational and enjoyable. Those who have applauded his comments include corporate listeners from Toshiba to Bell South, from BMW of North America to Shearson-Lehman.

Known as a stickler for hanging around when all is said and done to shake hands and sign autographs, Greg Gumbel proves that TV people can, indeed, be real people.
